Morning Banana Diet: From Tokyo to New York

Easy Diet, or Monkey Business?

If you have spent any time on diet sites in the past week you have probably seen dozens of ads for the Morning Banana Diet. The CBS Early Show did a piece on it last week:

In a recent article from the Sydney Morning Herald, Mindy Laube writes,

“The Morning Banana Diet is possibly the world’s [easiest] diet to follow - except in Japan where its intense popularity has led to the nation’s worst-ever banana shortage.”

Well there are still bananas to be found at the stores in the U.S. - I picked up a bunch this morning. Here is the rundown:

  • Eat fresh bananas for breakfast or brunch with water at room temperature.\
  • Eat whatever you want for lunch and dinner.
  • No desserts or snacks.
  • Don’t eat after 8 pm.
  • Be in bed before midnight.
  • Avoid alcohol
  • And get this, you don’t have to exercise to see the pounds come off.

Translation: Eat healthy, no sweets, drink water, avoid booze, don’t eat less than three hours before bed, and get a good night’s sleep. Sound familiar?
